Why Washing Your Face In The Shower Is Giving You Bad Skin

Cutting out this one bad habit could help you get back your glow.

We confess: we’re big fans of multi-tasking in the mornings, and that often means completing as many tasks as possible when we’re in the shower. One STELLAR staffer even ‘fesses that she brushes her teeth in there to shave minutes of her AM routine.

But there’s one task we shouldn’t be completing dans le douche, and that’s washing our face. Yep, according to dermatologist Dr. Elizabeth Tanzi, it’s a task that needs to be done at the sink.

In an interview with The Gloss she explains “I recommend that my patients wash their faces at the sink instead. You can gauge the temperature more effectively and should use lukewarm to cold water which is better for delicate faces.”

The big problem? Shower water is often too hot and this can in turn dry out your skin and strip it of its natural oils.

On the other hand, a splash of icy water from the sink can help to close pores and boost circulation, leading to a more revitalised complexion.

Sounds good, huh?

We’ll be using the shower for washing our bodies, and, er, our teeth only from now.
