Wait, What? Scientists Say Men With Hipster Beards Are Healthier Than The Rest Of Us

They're also very sexy, but that's besides the point.

First they told us that beards were harbouring all sorts of bacteria and that they were dirtier than the average toilet seat (#vom). But now scientists say that men with beards are actually healthier than people without facial hair.

According to a study carried out by the University of Queensland, men with beards have less exposure to dangerous UV rays, which decreases their risk of getting skin cancer from sun damage. It also reduces the development of wrinkles and liver spots.

To prove their point, scientists took mannequins with various beard sizes, from fully-grown to baby-faced, and left them out in the sun. They discovered that the mannequins with beards were protected from up to 90-95 per cent of damaging UV rays.

Do the men in your life have beards? If not, perhaps they should.
