Behold! The Autumn Hair Colour Trends You’ll Definitely Be Asking Your Stylist For This Season

A new season means a new colour, and we've found the hottest shades to ask for this autumn.

As the bitter cold of autumn sets in, we thinks it’s the perfect time to heat things up with a new look. This season is all about texture, from fuzzy sweaters to new layers in our hair and bold colour statements. Here are the ones you’ll be hot-footing down to the salon for…

Tortoise shell hair

The ombre trend’s been around for ages. Diplights came in and balayage had a moment. But now it’s all about tortoise shell hair. Sounds scary, looks ah-mazing. It’s a combination of a subtle ombre colours; think caramel, chocolate and golden blonde shades with even more highlights thrown into the mix. Sold.

Natural roots

Ok, we were a little sceptical about this one at first, but if we can look as good as Jennifer Laurance then we’ll give it a whirl. Think casual, multi-tonal color, that’s low maintenance and natural looking. Good news is, we can start spacing out our touch-up appointments and embracing the regrowth. And if we’re not spending our hard-earned cash on those dreaded root touch-ups we’re on to a winner.

Dark highlights

Although dark brown has a tonne of depth on its own, adding a pop of color with subtle or even bold highlights can turn your one dimensional brunette hair into a multi-tonal masterpiece. Ask for chocolate highlights to add warmth to dark locks.

Rusted copper

This classic, to-die-for copper shade has been a showstopper for decades, but what does it take to pull off the copper top? Style, confidence, and a killer do. Tick. Not one to be attempted at home, you’ll need to hit up your stylist to make sure you get this shade just right. Red fades quickly too so make sure you’re stocked up on shampoo and conditioner that’s specially formulated for coloured hair.

Bronde

A more subtle take on balayage, it’s not blonde and it’s not brunette; it’s somewhere (really pretty) in between. A mix of caramel and honey tones through the ends will make for a muted and natural looking graduation of colour. We <3.
