Life Hacks: 7 Easy Ways To Be Your Own Super Stylist

Want everyone to ask you where you got that amazing shoe/bag combo or wonder how you got so good at clashing patterns? Read this.

Our very own fashion editor Linda Conway explains the fashion rules to break – and those to follow in 2015.

1. Ace the basics

Start with the basics. Underwear is the foundation of any good look. If you can’t fit two fingers under your bra band it’s time to get fitted.

2. Staple diet

Invest in wardrobe staples and you’ll wonder how you ever lived without them. A breton stripe tee, great skinny jeans, a great coat, a blazer and a great pair of boots are the items to start with in winter.

3. Colour co-ord

Make picking an outfit easier by organising by colour. Pull out everything that, if you saw it in a shop today you wouldn’t buy, and ditch it. Make room for more fabulous buys.

4. Consign it

If you’re torn over throwing out an item because you spent a pay cheque on it and wore it once, take it to a store that will sell your pre-loved goods and split the earnings with you. Like our fave, Siopaella.

5. Board games

Pinterest is the ultimate for style inspo so look for upstyling ideas. Change buttons on coats, cut up jeans into shorts or dye them in your washing machine.

6. For kicks

Trainers aren’t just for the gym, and sweatpants and simple T-shirts can work for nights out. It’s all about how you wear them.

7. Have fun

Do the unexpected. Clash colours and prints, or wear sequins as daywear, to instantly make your look more bold.
