Noted! Here’s The Big Mistake Brides Make When Buying Their Wedding Dress

An expert weighs in.

Bridal Gown

You’ve snapped up all the bridal mags at your local newsagent, promptly started a wedding board on Pinterest and scoured every bridal website you’ve laid eyes on to track down the perfect gown for your big day, but according to wedding site founder Abby Larson, you’ve already made one crucial mistake in your hunt for ‘the one’.

Speaking to Byrdie, Larson explains that “Pinterest and wedding sites like Style Me Pretty are packed with stunning shots of gowns meant to provide inspiration.”

But that’s just the thing: all too often brides can fall in love with the gown in those glossy pics and subsequently end up choosing a dress that doesn’t suit their shape or style, just because it looks good on someone else.

As Larson points out “It’s easy to be disappointed when a dress looks totally different in real life than it did on the internet.”

How To Save Money On Your Wedding

Thankfully, that doesn’t mean you should end your virtual search there, and resign yourself to only shopping in your local bridal boutique.

Instead, Larson recommends using the pics as a springboard for similar styles.

“It’s smart to go in with a general idea of style and cut, but be open to trying on things that might be a few degrees in the other direction,” she recommends.

Her final piece of advice? “Give yourself room to fall in love with a gown that complements your unique body and look.”

Sounds like fool-proof counsel to us.
