The behind-the-scenes gossip on Kim Kardashian’s recent Cannes red carpet look just gets better and better.

First we heard that the reality star had opted to use the very budget-friendly Benefit They’re Real mascara on her lashes, rather than opting for one of the hella pricy alternatives that she was no doubt gifted ahead of the big night.

But it’s this week’s revelation about Kim’s metallic and nude Lan Yu Couture gown that really had us smiling.

Posting on her website, Kim told followers that her style team had used tea bags and a sink full of water to dye the dress’s nude underlay a darker shade.

“We had to try to darken the nude mesh dress under the silver layer, because it was too light to match my skin tone,” Kim explained alongside a video of the whole process.

The best part? The transformation was carried out just a couple of hours before Kim hit the red carpet.

“We had just two hours before we left for Cannes, so we put Earl Grey tea bags in a sink and put the dress in for about 30 minutes to dye it.

“We had to blow-dry it right before I put it on and it was still a little damp, but it worked and it made the mesh a better match to my skin tone.”

This isn’t the first time that Kim has DIYed a couture gown to suit her personal style, of course. Back in 2014 she appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live in a pink Dior dress which she had slahed along the midriff to create a matching two-piece co-ord.

Slay.
