How do you start your morning? Eggs Benedict? A green smoothie? Forget it, because according to one food expert it’s going to be totally socially acceptable to indulge in chocolate for breakfast in 2017.

According to Liz Moskow, culinary director at advertising firm Sterling-Rice Group, chocolate is set to become very in vogue in the coming months and may kickstart a new restaurant trend where customers are offered dessert menus at brunch. Um, yes please.

Citing two recent studies, Lis Moskow said that the nutritional benefits in cocoa are what’s gonna make chocolate a go-to first thing.

“There was a study that recently came out from Syracuse University re-touting the benefits of dark chocolate, specifically on cognitive function – abstract reasoning, memory, focus,” she explained to Food Business News.

“The thought was eating chocolate prepares you more for your workday, so what better day part to incorporate dark chocolate into your meal than breakfast?”

Another study also claims that chowing down on chocolate early in the day can help prevent cravings later on too.

Look, we’re dubious but if we can justify chowing down on the odd square of Dairy Milk for breakfast every once and while then we’re totally on board.
