Tell us about starting your blog

I was really nervous about creating my blog. I thought I’d get laughed at, but sometimes you have to take the risk. Now on top of my full time job, I dedicate time to Daydreamer Chic every evening and weekend.

How do you make your blog stand out?

My blog is based on life through an ordinary girl’s eyes. I hope that my readers find it relatable: the majority of us don’t have thousands to spend on clothes and hours to spend cooking and exercising, so my blog’s all about ways around this.

Now I just wear what I want. Fashion isn’t about worrying what others think.

How’d you describe your personal style?

As your life progresses, so too does your style. Currently I like classic and tailored looks, they suit my body shape.

Play it safe or dress to impress?

Definitely dress to impress! I used to feel slightly embarrassed about going all-out, but now I just wear what I want. Fashion isn’t about worrying what others think.

Who are your style icons?

Olivia Palermo, Victoria Beckham, Kate Moss and Audrey Hepburn. I think each of them influence my style in different ways. I also love Rachel Green’s style from Friends.

Who’s your inspiration?

Gabrielle Chanel (Coco). Everything she stood for and how hard she worked to create her brand really makes you realise that dedication and persistence pays off.

Beauty essentials?

Real Technique brushes are amazing. I’m always in a rush in the mornings so I love anything that’ll minimise the time spent on make-up application. The Sleek contour palette is extremely handy, and I’m a huge advocate of Clinique lipsticks.

Beauty regime?

I’m a skin fanatic and I’ve always been taught to look after it. I take my make-up off every night with Nivea cleanser, followed by rosewater and witchhazel as a toner. I apply the No7 eye serum, and some Nivea moisturiser.

We’re so hard on ourselves. I think we really need to give ourselves a break sometimes.

How important is healthy eating and body image?

I’ve spent my whole life being self-conscious, so for me it’s incredibly important. It’s not necessarily easy to obtain (I’m still working on it!) and being fit and healthy is not restricted to a certain size. A balanced lifestyle and a positive body image go hand in hand, so that’s why it’s included quite a lot in my posts.

Do we place unrealistic expectations on ourselves?

Definitely! We’re so hard on ourselves. I think we really need to give ourselves a break sometimes. Unfortunately this pressure seems to be starting at a younger age now too. I think the more we focus on the good aspects instead of the bad, the more we’ll stop feeling like we’re not good enough. When people see influential celebrities showing that they’re not perfect it eases the pressure. Jennifer Lawrence is a great example.

Where do you see yourself in five years time?

I want to be happy and healthy with my blog going strong. I do believe in making plans for the future, but I’m still figuring it all out.
