Oops! So Apparently Serena Williams Didn’t Mean To Tell The World She Was Pregnant

Delete, delete!

Tennis star Serena Williams announced to the world that she was pregnant via Instagram, but she’s recently admitted that she posted the image by accident. #Whoopsie.

Speaking on a TedTalk to Gayle King, she said, “Well, actually it was an accident. I was on vacation just taking some time for myself and I have this thing where I’ve been checking my status and taking pictures every week to see how far along I’m going. I didn’t tell a lot of people to be quite honest and I’d been saving it. And you know how social media is when you press the wrong button… and…”

“There it was!” Gayle concluded.

Serena added, “Every week I just take a picture and save it. I’ve been so good about it and this was the one time I slipped, but it’s okay.”

The 35-year-old wasn’t going to keep it a secret for too much longer, but she did get a shock when she realised what she’d done.

“My phone doesn’t ring that much, and thirty minutes later I missed like four calls and I’m like, ‘that’s weird,’ and then I picked it up and I was like oh no…But it was a good moment. I was just going to wait literally just five or six more days, so that’s okay.”

Because of the shock, she quickly deleted the Instagram post before anyone else could see it.

The seven-time Wimbledon winner is expecting her child with fiancé and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, and she posted a second, more-touching tribute to her unborn child via Instagram during the week.

She said, “My Dearest Baby, You gave me the strength I didn’t know I had. You taught me the true meaning of serenity and peace. I can’t wait to meet you. I can’t wait for you to join the players box next year.

“But most importantly, I am so happy to share being number one in the world with you…. once again today. On @alexisohanian bday. ? from the world’s oldest number one to the world’s youngest number one. -Your Mommy.”

We’re so happy for Serena and Alex, and wish them all the best on this new and exciting journey!
