If you haven’t seen 13 Reasons Why yet but plan to – stop reading this immediately because we’re about to spoil some things for you.
Those of you who have seen the Netflix original series, prepare to have your preconceived notions completely blown out of the water.
Remember the end of the final episode, when we saw Alex being taken away in an ambulance with a gunshot wound to the head? Many viewers and fans online began speculating that his classmate, Tyler Down, was responsible for the shooting because of his excessive gun collection and hatred of Alex.
This theory was supported by the fact that Tyler had ominously taken down Alex’s photo that was previously hanging up in his photography studio. It was believed by many that by choosing this photo over others, Tyler was selecting his victim.
However, Miles Heizer who plays Alex in the 13-part series has shut down these rumours by telling The Hollywood Reporter that his character had actually shot himself in an attempt to die by suicide.
“It was interesting to see similarities between Alex and Hannah, because there are a lot of warning signs throughout the season,” he said. “That’s another subject that’s very rarely shown on screen and is probably a lot more common than people think it is.
“People attempting to take their lives and it not happening, I’m sure that will bring a crazy set of issues. It would be interesting to go into that.”
It sounds as though his character’s suicide attempt was unsuccessful, and now that the series has been given the green light for season two, we’re interested to see how Alex recovers from the incident and how it will affect the other teens in the group.
