9 Reasons To Pick The Costa Dorada For Your Next Holiday In The Sun

All the best of Spain in one area.

The Costa Dorada is a region in the north east of Spain that is known as the Gold Coast due to its abundance of long sandy beaches. Here are nine reasons why it’s the ideal holiday destination in Spain, according to Sunway – the REAL Package Holiday Company.

Relax on the splendid beaches

The beaches are the first and most popular places people head to when they arrive in the Costa Dorada area. With mile upon mile of golden sands, backed by pine trees and picturesque coves, they’re simply magnificent.

Visit PortAventura World

Located on the shores of the Mediterranean and one hour from Barcelona, this is the perfect place to spend one-of-a-kind holidays as a family. Only a few minutes from the beach and in an amazing setting, there are three theme parks; PortAventura Park, Ferrari Land, the PortAventura Caribe Aquatic Park. Five themed hotels with stunning pools and three golf courses make this the perfect place to enjoy a dream holiday.

Explore the culture and history of Spain

Barcelona and Tarragona are two fantastic cities to explore local culture, modern art and history, all within easy reach. These beautiful cities are packed with centuries of history, architecture and museums. Modern attractions include great souvenir shops, lively bars and great restaurants.

Make a day trip to Barcelona

Wherever you are in Barcelona, there’s always something to see nearby around the neighbourhood or district: jewels of home-grown Catalan, modernism, and contemporary architecture, markets that are a treat for the senses, treasures of the ancient Roman and medieval city, and parks where you can unwind.

Feast on the delicious cuisine

You won’t go hungry on your Costa Dorada holiday! Especially if you visit one of
the area’s Michelin-starred restaurants. In Spain, Catalonia’s second only to the Basque Country in terms of its gastronomic reputation. The cuisine is superb and includes sea food, Catalonian specialty dishes and fine wines.

Make a splash at Aquopolis Aquatic Park

There are rides and plenty of fun for all ages: jacuzzis, wave pools, huge lakes and rivers with kamikazes, circular slides, black holes, a dolphinarium and much more. To relax far from the crowds, feel special in the Aquopolis VIP chill-out zone. There you can kick-back in the shade or the sun in an exclusive ambience with a touch of distinction.

Go on safari at Aqualeon-Aquapark

Aqualeon-Aquapark is an open-air safari with more than six hundred animals roaming free, plus incredible shows with marine animals, intelligent birds, birds of prey and reptiles. The water park has spectacular slides and a giant wave pool – other facilities include a mini zoo, nature school, beach volleyball, restaurants, cafés and shops.

Sightsee on the tourist trains

If you’re feeling less active, then a trip on the local tourist train that covers various sightseeing routes around the area might be perfect for you. These mini trains offer sightseeing routes in Salou and Cambrils. On board the train you can enjoy the cool sea breeze and breath-taking views of the monument of the Sanctuary of Mare de Déu del Camí, as well as the medieval tower of Ermita.

Get hiking

You’ll find excellent walking along the coast and especially in the Montsant Mountains, where the network of trails will take you off the beaten track and closer to nature. The numerous hiking paths and sky-high mountains offer breath-taking views.
