5 Things Genuinely Happy People Don’t Give A F*ck About

Take note, because life's too short to let in the doom and gloom!

Some people ooze happiness and are brimming with positivity, so what do they do differently from the rest of us? Well, a big part of being genuinely happy is your mindset. It’s about developing a healthy dose of ‘I don’t give an eff’ and trusting your own instincts.

With that in mind, here are a few things happy folk really don’t give a damn about…

1. Caring about what others think

This is one of the biggest blocks to our happiness. Happy people aren’t phased by their naysayers. It’s that simple. If you allow yourself to get caught up in what others really think about you, you’ll be on a slippery slope to bluesville. In reality you can not control what people think. Block it out. Happy people know that how you feel about yourself is what counts.

2. Gossip

It’s an age old rule that those who thrive on gossip, don’t feel great about themselves, so they make mean comments about other people to feel better. If you’re happy and content with your life, you shouldn’t care what’s going on in someone else’s. There is no reason to engage in this petty behaviour — all it does is make you look, well, unhappy.

3. Society’s standards

Let’s be honest, there are a lot of labels out there that try to define who we are. Expectations are always thrown at us and it can be pretty overwhelming at times. Happy people don’t care for any of that racket. They look within and do what they want in life. This is how happiness is created: Not doing things you don’t care for or trying to fit in.

4. Complaining

Complaining is the result of an unhappy life. Moaning wreaks havoc with your outlook for the present and the future. You cant be happy and grumbling about something at the same time. Sometimes things don’t go your way. You can’t escape that, that’s the journey we’re on. But complaining is useless. Happy people know that. Instead they’re grateful for what they have and then they try to find the solution with a positive mindset.

5. The past or the future

Remember this: If you want to be happy, you’ve got to let go of the past and move on with life. Learn from it and grow from it, then make sure you don’t repeat the same mistakes. Anyhow everyone knows it’s okay to make mistakes, it’s how we learn from them that really counts. As for the future, happy people pretty much let go of expectations. When you let go of the past and the future, then you can truly enjoy the present. Which is all we really have at any moment.
