A Wellness Expert Says This Is The Major Mistake Irish Gals Are Making When It Comes To Food

And it's good news if you love carbs.

In a recent issue of the mag, we sought the advice of Dr Hazel Wallace AKA the Food Medic and we had one major burning question:

What’s the biggest mistake women are making when it comes to nutrition?

Here’s what she told us.

“One of the biggest myths is that carbohydrates are the driving force behind weight gain. There’s nothing inherently fattening about carbs. The reason people tend to lose weight on low carb diets is because they end up cutting out a large portion of their diet, which by default reduces their calorie consumption.”

Basically, that whole ‘no carbs before Marbs’ mantra is total BS.

Plus, Hazel says if you want to make a change there are some small tweaks you can make to better your health in the long run.

“Increase your fibre intake,” she advises. “We should be getting about 30g of fibre a day, but here in Ireland we’re only getting just over half that a day! Although, we can’t digest and absorb fibre, it keeps things moving nice and smoothly through the gut, which reduces the risk of developing constipation and haemorrhoids.” Got it.
