5 Lower-Calorie Cocktails To Order At The Bar Or Make At Home This Weekend

Tired of wine spritzers? Raise a glass filled with one of these delicious cocktails instead.

Hitting the bar isn’t quite as healthy as, say, doing yoga, but it doesn’t have to be a calorie-fest, either. Office parties, family gatherings, dinner with mates; life is filled with boozy temptations, and sometimes two drinks out with the girls suddenly turns into a 1,000-calorie night. Damn.

Vodka sodas are always a safe bet but can get boring quickly, so next time you’re out on the town or having a girly night in, order one of these cheat cocktails instead, because let’s face it, we’re not drinking water all night.

1. Vitality vodka lemonade

Using a juicer, blend one cucumber, two celery stalks, one head of romaine lettuce, one lemon, one small piece of fresh ginger and two green apples. Then, add vodka to taste. It’s that easy!

2.  Teensy float

3. Mojito

Although a drink made with sugar screams ‘back away!’ for the waistline-conscious, you can request half the syrup—or ditch it altogether. Mint, lime, and soda water are all naturally low-cal, a shot of rum is about 100 calories, and 2 tbsp of sugar (half the normal serving) in the form of syrup is about 40 calories. #result

4. Sour-apple martini

We bet you thought this list was going to be filled with sippers like white-wine spritzers. Nuh-uh, guess again. While we don’t recommend a Carrie Bradshaw-approved cosmo (it has more than 250 calories), that doesn’t mean all martinis are off limits. Try a sour apple one, made with sour mix, vodka and sour apple liqueur.

5. Bombay Magic

This little number, really won us over with it’s citrusy taste and mint flavours. Mix Cointreau, tequila or vodka, with lemon juice, club soda, and a mint leaf. Et voila!
