Adele was the one who gave Amy the push to have her impromptu wedding.
Amy Schumer married her now husband, Chris Fischer, in an impromptu wedding back in February.
The comedian has now revealed that singer Adele gave her the idea for the spontaneous ceremony – and she was almost the person who married her and Chris.
The 36-year-old was introduced to Adele through actress Jennifer Lawrence while on a night out in Los Angeles.
“I was staying in LA in a house near Jennifer, who lives right by Adele and they’re really good friends and I’d never met her before, so we hung out a little bit that week,” the Trainwreck star told US radio station Sirius XM.
“Then we were real drunk one night and talking about how we wanted to get married and Adele was like, ‘Well, I can marry you’, and we were like, ‘Okay, cool.’
“We were making a whole plan, like Tuesday at noon, because she takes care of her kid.”
The next morning, Amy said Adele decided against it as the pair had only just met, but she and Chris decided to go ahead with the wedding regardless.
Adele was initially ordained to marry her friend Alan Carr and his partner Paul Drayton, and thought that it wouldn’t be fair on them to marry Amy too.
The comedian also revealed that Jennifer Lawrence made a “really sweet toast” on her big day:
We just joke around so much, but to hear her say, ‘You’re the matriarch now and it’s a role you’ll be so good at and I know you love fiercely.’ Then she also said, ‘I wish for you patience, which you don’t have’. So, she also roasted me!
Can we get Adele to marry us, though? Seriously!
