Everyone Is Talking About Netflix’s New Gossip Girl/Pretty Little Liars Hybrid ‘You’

People are super excited for Netflix’s new series You, which has been described as a Gossip Girl/Pretty Little Liars mashup.

The show is a drama which will star Gossip Girl’s Penn Badgley, PLL’s Shay Mitchell and Elizabeth Lail. Just when we thought we’d seen the last of our fave actors.

US network Lifetime began airing You last night, but lucky for us, Netflix have confirmed they will be airing the show at some stage, however no dates have been released.

The series is based on the best-selling 2014 novel of the same name by author Caroline Kepnes.

A plot synopsis from Netflix reads: “YOU, a Netflix Original Series, is the riveting and hypnotic story of Joe Goldberg (played by Penn Badgley), an obsessive yet brilliant New Yorker, who exploits today’s technology to win the heart of Beck (Elizabeth Lail) amid the growing suspicions of her best friend Peach (Shay Mitchell).

“Joe transforms himself from stalker to boyfriend while doing whatever it takes to eliminate all obstacles standing in his way — even if it means murder.

“Set in today’s 24/7 hyper-connected world, YOU explores how vulnerable we all are to stalking and manipulation online and in real life.”

It’s unclear whether the episodes will be released on Netflix in one swoop, or weekly like what was done with other Netflix Original Riverdale. The latter is more likely considering the executive producers behind Riverdale are the same people backing this new series, which gives us a good feeling.

The show has already been picked up for a second season, so we can only anticipate great things. Here’s a look at the official trailer release by Netflix to get you excited.
