Sophia Bush Is Talking About Her Marriage To Chad Michael Murray And We Feel Like We’re Back In One Tree Hill

Sophia Bush and Chad Michael Murray were the It Couple on and off screen in the early 2000s – and now the One Tree Hill co-stars are back making headlines.

Sophia Bush has said that she felt ‘pressured’ to marry Chad in a revealing interview with Andy Cohen, which has rubbed her ex-husband up the wrong way.

“I don’t even know,” Sophia said when Andy asked how long she and Chad had dated before tying the knot. “And it was not a thing I actually really wanted to do… Ladies have to learn how to take up space in the way that men are taught they are entitled to.”

“I don’t understand because if you didn’t want to get married, how do you get to the point of being, like, talked into it?” Cohen asked, to which Sophia replied:

Because how do you let everybody down…. When you have bosses telling you that you’re the only person who gets a person to work on time, and 200 people either get to see their kids at night or they don’t because our days start on time.

Sophia also spoke about the the considerable drama that went on behind the scenes of the show.

Life is always loaded. What the public knows ever is never—it’s not the tip of the iceberg. Hilarie [Burton] and I used to laugh and we were like, ‘If we had a behind-the-scenes show, the drama would be so much f*cking better than the drama that the writers write.’

So what were Chads thoughts on the comments?

In a statement to People, the actor’s rep called Sophia’s story “ludicrous” and said: “Chad conducts himself in a completely professional manner and would never marry for any reason but love. Thirteen years since his divorce from Sophia, he has a very happy family life with his wife and children. He has completely moved on and doesn’t feel the need to engage in this type of behaviour.”

So how did things get so messy between her and Chad? Let’s take a quick look at the history of their relationship

Sophia and Chad starred together in One Tree Hill from 2003 to 2009. After dating when they met in 2003, the pair got engaged in ’04 and married in California in ’05.

After 5 months of marriage, the pair decided to split. Sophia filed for an annulment on the basis of fraud in February 2006 but her request was denied, and their divorce was granted in December 2006. That same year, Chad became engaged to Kenzie Dalton, whom he met while she was an extra on One Tree Hill.

Sophia didn’t stray too far herself – from 2008 to 2009, Sophia dated her other One Tree Hill co-star James Lafferty. She and Chad had to continue working together until 2009, when Chad left the show.

This isn’t the first time that Sophia has spoken out about the failed marriage. Speaking to a caller on Andy Cohen’s show in 2014, Sophia was asked if she still keeps in touch with Chad. “That’s such an interesting question,” she said. “But my mother once said to me that if you don’t have anything nice to say, not to say anything at all.”

However she went on to say: “We were two stupid kids who had no business being in a relationship in the first place. To all the other co-stars who’ve worked it out, more power to you.”
