Heading To Vegas? Here’s What You Need To Know Before You Go

When web editor Victoria Stokes visited Sin City, she discovered a 24/7 party mecca. She's sharing her secrets so you can enjoy your trip to the max.

Expect a wild ride

What sets a night out in Sin City apart from any other party capital across the globe? Perhaps it’s the sheer spectacle of the city’s bars and mega clubs that differentiates it from European hotspots like Ibiza and Ayia Napa, or maybe it’s simply the casino culture that adds that extra element of risk and fun.

When it all gets too much…

Calming ideas for the over-stimulated.

Need a quiet one? Get tickets for a show. The Beatles Love Cirque Du Soleil is a feel-good must-see. Catch it at The Mirage every Thursday to Monday.

A sunrise Helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon will rival any night out that lasts until dawn. Transfers to the edge of the Canyon leave Vegas at 4am, so there’s no excuse to not be in bed early.

Can’t face another sip of booze? Over-indulge at one of Vegas’ famed buffets instead. Head to Feast Of The World Buffet at Green Valley Ranch Resort to chow down on global goodies. Hey, a food coma beats a hangover any day, right?

Get listed

Getting your name on a guest list should be your first port of call, and it’s a task you’ll no doubt pull off with ease as club promoters line the strip by day vying to reel in female party-goers. The Vegas club scene favours women, meaning free entry and free booze is almost always a given.

Dress to impress

When night falls, it’s time to play dress up. Vegas dress codes are strict, so pack your midi dress and stacked heels and pop your swimmers into your clutch bag before you head off to the club.

Sort your stamina

Many club nights run to 7am, so lining your stomach isn’t just a worthwhile endeavour, it’s essential, so before even a sip of alcohol passes your lips, chow down. Once properly fueled, a spot of gambling is in order. Spend the early evening supping vodka cocktails and having a flutter at the roulette table in one of Vegas’ many famed casinos before hitting a club. And heed the advice your mammy would give you: have fun, drink sensibly and be safe.

The morning after

And some wise counsel: Cure your hangover by the hotel pool. Trust us on this one.
