Bella Hadid is not only a style icon and all round legend (most recently dropping jaws over the fact that she follows an Irish politician on Instagram – gas!) but she’s also about to add to her impressive resumé by making her acting debut.

The 25 year old supermodel will be joining the cast of Hulu’s Ramy for season three of the show, which is a comedy-drama series set in the States. Ramy follows main character Ramy Hassan (played by Ramy Youssef) who is on a journey of self discovery as he explores his muslim faith alongside his life as a second generation immigrant in New Jersey.

It makes sense that Hadid would take a role on the show, as the model is also a child of immigrants, her mother Yolanda being Dutch and her father Mohamed, Palestinian. Hadid has long been vocal about her dual heritage, and shared before that her father was actually a refugee when he first landed in America.

The soon to be actress often uses her platform on social media to advocate for refugees and the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine, and is also vocal about the fact that she is a ‘proud muslim’ – so it’s no wonder that she would be taking part in a show that focuses on the religious community.

Posting on her Instagram about the casting, Hadid wrote ‘best cast, best crew, best show’, adding that she’s ‘honored & excited’ to be taking part. The actress also tagged Ramy Youssef and said ‘yalla’ – an Arabic term used to mean ‘let’s go’ or ‘come on’. It’s pretty clear that the budding starlet is absolutely buzzing, and we are too! We’ve got a strong suspicion this may be the beginning of an exciting career change. You can watch season one and two of Ramy on Amazon Prime.
