Love Island’s Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu won this year’s contest with her boyfriend Davide, taking the Love Island champions’ title. But this isn’t the only title she has won, as back in her beauty pageant days Ekin-Su represented us as Miss Ireland.
While fans were excited to find her Irish connections, they were also pretty confused as to how she got her Miss Ireland title, having grown up between England and Turkey.
But now the reality star is clearing up the confusion, explaining exactly how she ended up representing us during the 2011 Miss Asia Pacific World pageant.
Speaking on The Late Late Show, the reality star revealed that despite having never been to Ireland, a manager suggested she represent Northern Ireland at the contest.

Confessing: “So I when I was 17. I did Miss Asia Pacific and it was a beauty contest. And it was my first ever kind of travels. I was very young and very confident. I just went away and my manager at the time said, ‘could you represent Northern Ireland?’ and I said ‘sure.’”
But talk of representing Northern Ireland, soon turned to representing the whole island. So despite having never been to Ireland, so still managed to be Miss Ireland!
But rest assured Ekin-Su did plenty of research to really get to know us…by trying some iconic drinks. Saying: “I have to research about you know Ireland itself and you know the Bailey’s, the Guinness, the Baby Guinness. I tried by the way. Amazing.”
