Ever since Laura Whitmore announced her exit from Love Island, fans have been throwing around theories and guesses, for who could be taking over hosting duties. Plenty were quick to name Maura Higgins or Emily Attack as possible replacements. But by far the most popular prediction for our next host was Maya Jama.
And it seems fans might have been right.
According to The Sun, Maya has accepted an offer to host the hit reality dating series and will be jetting to South Africa for the winter edition of the show.
With a source saying: “Maya was ITV’s dream option. She is fun, beautiful and a brilliant presenter.”

The source also revealed that Maya was considered for hosting duties two years ago, as a replacement for Caroline Flack, before the gig went to Laura.
As they said: “She was discussed as a possible replacement for Caroline two years ago — but now the time is right.”
“They think she’ll make the show her own and carry on from where Caroline left off.”
The source also shared how the process is well underway and an official announcement should be coming soon. Explaining: “They’re just in the process of finalising the last few details — but barring any huge surprises she will be announced formally very soon.”
“They are just dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s.”

Maya’s predecessor, Laura left the show in August.
Announcing her departure from the series, the Wicklow native wrote on Instagram: “Some news! I won’t be hosting the next series of Love Island.”
“There are certain elements of the show I’ve found very difficult that cannot be changed some due to the format, including the flying back and forth to South Africa along with my new conflicting projects.”
“I wish it was still possible but know you’ll be in safe hands. I was only planning to fill in for Caroline for a series and it turned into 3 series.”
She concluded: “I hope I did you proud Caroline.”
