We’re big fans of Roz Purcell’s foodie blog Natural Born Feeder. That’s cos it gives us lots of inspo to rustle up healthy, good-for-you treats, that taste like they should be anything but good for you.
Enter Roz’s latest creation, the Power shot. โI’ve chosen foods to help boost your mood, start the day off on a good note,โ says Roz. โBut also foods which can help steady blood sugar levels, relieve tension and fuel you for the day ahead.โ
Sounds like exactly what we need first thing in the morning. Here’s how to make it:
Makes one large smoothie.
Ingredients
1 banana (frozen)
1/2 a raw beetroot (peeled and steamed)
1 1/2 ginger roots (keep the skin on, as all the nutrients are in there!)
1/2 the juice of a lemon
100 grams of Blueberries
1 pint of coconut milk (you can substitute coconut water for added electrolytes!)
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
4 mint leaves
Optional: 1 Medjool date for sweetness
Method
Simply chuck all your ingredients into a blender, blitz until smooth, pour into a tall glass and enjoy!
Psst! Don’t fancy making it up yourself? You can nab a Power Shot as part of Clayton Hotel’s vitality breakfast until Monday 31st August.
