This Irish Designer Helped Create Rihanna’s Super Bowl Look

Rihanna returned to the stage for the first time in seven years to perform at the Super Bowl in the States over the weekend.

The performance was watched all over the world by Bad Gal Riri’s loyal fans.

So we were absolutely delighted when we learned that an Irish designer was behind her iconic red look.

Derry-born designer and creative director of Loewe, Jonathan Anderson was the creative who worked on her look.


“I’m so excited to have been part of this unforgettable moment. Rihanna is a true icon, and working with her to bring these stage looks to life feels like a wild, wonderful dream,” he wrote on Instagram.

The Spanish luxury house created a custom “flight-inspired” look for the halftime show which saw Rihanna announce her second pregnancy.

Jonathan has had an incredible career after graduating from the London College of Fashion. He launched his first Menswear collection under the JW Anderson label.

He then made history when he became the first individual to be awarded both Womenswear and Menswear Designer of the Year at the British Fashion Awards.

In 2013, he was named as creative director in of the major luxury fashion house, Loewe.

Rihanna looked breathtaking in her red ensemble that featured a custom-made breastplate. She accessorised with a selection of vintage brooches from Joseph Saidian & Sons, a Bayco ring, Messika earrings and Jacob & Co watch.

Her long-time stylist and creative director Jahleel Weaver made sure she was stylish and comfortable with a pair of MM6 Maison Margiela x Salomon sneakers.

Towards the end of her performance, she added a custom Alaïa coat designed by Pieter Mulier to her look.
