With summer just down the road, we are all looking to let down our luscious locks and have an amazing season, but brittle, dry hair can sometimes stop us in our tracks. Between sun damage, bleach and heat damage, our hair may not always be as healthy and strong as we would like. In preparation for the warmer weather (and of course all those holiday posts), follow our easy steps for fabulous hair that you’ll be proud to swish around this summer!

Brining it back to basics, make sure to grab a great heat protectant from your local pharmacy. Whilst we should all be using heat protectant on wet hair before we use a hairdryer, straightener or curler, this is a little reminder if you have fallen off the bandwagon. We love Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Leave In Spray by Tresemmé!

Hair Masques

Hair Masques are a great way to add extra moisture for dry, damaged hair. Whether you use one every week or just once in a while, you can find a hair masque that suits your hair type and beauty routine. Olaplex’s No. 3 Hair Perfecter is amazing for softening and moisturising the hair, but for more regular use, try Kérastase Resistance Therapiste Masque for stronger hair with every wash.

Sleep On A Silky Pillow Case

Hair loss is a lot more common than you think and is really normal throughout different periods of our life. One thing you can do to help protect against hair loss is to sleep on a silky pillow. Cotton pillows can oftentimes be too rough on delicate hair and when you toss and turn at night, can cause friction with the hair and cause it to fall out. Opt for a silk pillow case that’s more gentle on hair. You could even try a silk bonnet to really help protect your hair against hair loss.

Use Your Hairdryer On A Low Setting

We all know that rush in the morning when you’ve jumped out of the shower with wet hair, you’re rushing to work and you whack your hairdryer on full blast to get it dry as soon as possible. HALT! Using your hairdryer on the hottest setting is one of the worst things you can do to your hair!

Avoid Tight Hair Styles

For most of us, a sleek ponytail is a lifesaver when it comes to getting the most out of our hair washes, however this hairstyle is one of many that could actually be damaging your hair. Constantly wearing hairstyles that tug at your hair from the root can, over time, lead to weakened hair (due to the pressure constantly applied to it) as well as hair loss from the root. Try to limit tight hairstyles to once or twice a week if possible to help protect your hair from this kind of pressure breakage.
