Our 6 Favourite Moments From Irish Love Island Contestants Over The Years
Icons, the lot of them.
Let’s be honest, the Irish antics are always the best part of Love Island.
And this year we will see one of our very own from the very first episode.
It was announced this week that Catherine from Dublin will be one of the first Islanders to enter the villa.
With a brand new series just around the corner, here are some of our favourite moments from the Irish Love Island contestants.
1) The original Adam
Let’s start off with the first-ever Irish Love Islander. Way back in season 2, Northern Irish Adam Maxted entered the villa and laid the flag for Irish hopefuls.
Although his time was a bit of a rollercoaster in the villa, he always knew exactly what to say and it often included a cringey metaphor.

2) Fanny flutters
Miss Maura Higgins, our Love Island pride and joy. Entering the villa late, Maura set a whole new standard for the term “bombshell”. Maura not only brought us funny moments but she also coined the term “fanny flutters”.

3) The luck of the Irish
Greg O’Shea came into the villa fairly late in the game, but in only four days he swept not only Amber, but all of us, off our feet. He even won the whole show!
They’ve not stopped smiling since they first set eyes on each other… Amber and Greg are your #LoveIsland 2019 winners! ❤️🎉 pic.twitter.com/3pEd9nbMGc

4) The famous father
Another Irish contestant we’ll never forget is Irish music legend Ronan Keating’s son, Jack. Although he may have only been in the villa for a very short time (3 days to be exact) and he wasn’t really the star of the show, he did have some awkward encounters which gave us all a good laugh.
On his first day in Casa Amor, Jack decided to bond with Gemma Owen by talking about famous parents.
“You know Ronan Keating? That’s the old man.”
Unfortunately Gemma wasn’t too familiar with the Irish popstar, making us all cringe, and giggle.

5) Short and sweet
Next is Matthew MacNabb, our Northern Irish boy, who definitely does not have the gift of the gab.
Matthew possibly made Love Island history with the quickest dumping ever when he simply said: “yeah, we’re done”.
Obsessed.
6) You said it!
Season 5 scientist Yewande gave us some brilliant one liners throughout her time in the villa, from her reaction to being left single in the first episode to shutting down Michael with some physic knowledge. But our favourite was her parting words to Danny after she was dumped in week 3.
“‘What goes around comes around, have a nice life” – incredible.
