Another day, another celeb to obsess over!

Tate McRae has been blowing up all over TikTok, and this week someone noticed that she has more monthly followers on Spotify than Beyoncé. Beyoncé!

So who is Tate McRae?

The 20 year old Canadian singer and dancer has been performing for years, slowly building her way up to stardom.

At just 13, Tate became a finalist on the American show So You Think You Can Dance, showing a glimpse of her incredible talent to viewers stateside.

From there she performed on stage with Justin Bieber during his Calgary tour, and even appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres show.

In the meantime, Tate was working hard to be noticed in the music industry.

She had been singing covers on her Youtube for years, but a particular series called Create With Tate began to gain traction when she showed off her original songs.

As millions flooded her social media, Tate went for gold and released an EP.

Her lead single, You Broke Me First, went viral on TikTok – and we know now that if any app is going to propel your music career to the stars, it’s TikTok!

As her song rose steadily up the Billboard charts, Tate began to break through the industry, collaborating with Troye Sivan for his song You, and starring in Olivia Rodrigo’s video for Bad Idea Right?

This year, Tate released her album Think Later, and her song Greedy has put her firmly on the map.

A quick scroll through TikTok and you’ll likely come across the trending sound, which has been reaching number 1 across the globe.

Chatting to People about the song, Tate said, “We started writing this really sassy song about the feeling of having utter confidence, being like, ‘Yeah, it takes a lot to really get me to open up.’

“And it ended up feeling like this really cool female empowerment song, which I loved.”

Tate is set to go on her world tour for Think Later in 2024.
