Are you ready to pirouette into SS24’s hottest shoe trend?

It’s becoming more and more common to spot a set of perfectly pedicured toes lying beneath a sheer mesh fabric on your daily commute. The mesh ballerina shoes first reappeared on the scene last year with Fashion House, Alaia’s black ballet fishnet flats, and since then there have been recreations galore.

From sheer flats embellished with jewels to lilac hues ready to add a pop of colour to your neutral fit, this spin on the noughties classic is quickly becoming a summer must-have.

Upon first inspection of these ever so slightly impractical chaussures, they may bring back memories of the communion shoes you scuffed before you even managed to get a taste of the bread.

However, when it comes to fashion, we must always be ready to make that inevitable sacrifice: either take a page out of the Londoner’s commuter guide and change your shoes when you arrive at your location or simply play a dangerous game of avoid the hundreds of puddles dotted around O’Connell Street.
