Steal Her Style: How To Dress Like Lorelai Gilmore
If only Stars Hollow was a real place...
The early 2000s show that helped raise many of us, Gilmore Girls, is home to one of the largest style icons and inspirations – Lorelai Gilmore. The character was styled by the talented Brenda Maben for seven seasons, as well as the show’s revival in 2016.
Whether you have seen the show or not, we’re sure you can agree that early 2000s low rise jeans, leather jackets and statement boots have come full circle and are the latest style trending right now.
Played by the fabulous Lauren Graham, Lorelai is known for her distinct style filled with tight knit turtle necks, tailored skirts, point toed boots and fitted leather jackets, every girls dream!

Lorelai tends to stick to a specific colour scheme throughout the show which consists of a lot of natural earthy tones like deep browns and greens, some light washed grey and dark blue denim however, the colours which compliment Lorelai’s pale skin tone and dark hair the most are deep red and ice blue.
Primarily we see Lorelai’s chic style during Friday night dinners, when hosting guests at the inn and even grabbing a coffee at Luke’s however, there’s another side to this Gilmore girl that involves juicy tracksuits, cowboy boots, tie dye and graphic print or band t-shirts.

A fun fact about the Gilmore Girls’ wardrobe is during the time of shooting the show shared a film lot with another iconic TV show, Friends.
We can see a cross over of characters in the two shows wearing similar outfits, especially with Jennifer Aniston’s character, Rachel, who has a very similar style to Lorelai.
Paired with Lorelai’s effortlessly chic style is a talented hair and makeup team. Lorelai’s dark brown hair contrasts her pale skin beautifully throughout the show.

Ms. Gilmore tends to style her hair with voluminous loose curls and waves majority of the time however, sometimes we see a sleek pony, a messy bun and on the rare occasion a bandana! Lorelai’s makeup is kept very simple throughout the show highlighting her natural beauty.
We mainly see darker lip shades like deep reds on her character and very subtle shadow and liner around her eyes to enhance their striking blue colour.
