EYNTK Before Getting Your First Lash Lift

Curls for days

Lash lifts are great! No dodgy eyelash curlers, clumpy mascara or struggling with eyelash glue for over a month – what a dream.

They are definitely one less thing for you to worry about before a night out and seeing as it’s summer, you deserve to treat yourself. However, if this is your first time, then there’s a few things you should know before you book that appointment.

Here’s your guide of everything you need to know before getting your first lash lift.

What is a lash lift?

A lash lift is a semi-permanent treatment that curls your natural lashes while giving your eyes a more open look.

The treatment lifts your eyelashes from the root of the hair enhancing their natural length. A lifting solution is used, followed by a setting solution and the option to add a tint at the end.

How long does a lash lift last?

The longevity of a lash lift can vary, however, they usually last between 4 to 8 weeks.

Decide what style you want

When you attend your first appointment, you might be asked how intense you want your lash lift.

There are a variety of curl options available. The main thing to know is a J-Curl will give you a subtle lift and a D-Curl will give you a dramatic look. There are in-between options available, such as a B-Curl or a C-Curl.

Make sure you do your research before you attend your appointment and discuss options with your beautician before you begin your treatment. We don’t want you to leave disappointed!

Get a patch test

Different salon’s will use different products for lash lift treatments. A patch test is required 24 hours prior to your first appointment to ensure you don’t have a reaction to the products.

Although this is a requirement, if you do happen to stumble across a place in which a patch test is not needed, then we highly recommend not chancing it!

If you’ve had a lash lift before but you want to go to a new salon, then make sure that you still take a patch test. If you don’t get a reaction from one place, it doesn’t mean you won’t from another!

How do you treat an infection?

If you get a reaction to your lash lift, then symptoms may come in the form of swollen, irritated and dry lashes.

You may be prescribed an antihistamine or a saline solution to ease any symptoms. However, before purchasing any treatments or products, make sure to consult your GP.

Take breaks between each appointment

If you loved your first lash lift so much that you want to book another appointment, make sure to take a break in between. Remember that the products are still chemicals, so it’s important you give your eyelashes time to recover. We don’t want you left with brittle or damaged lashes!
