3 Treatments For Glowy, Stunning Skin This Christmas
We got you
Christmas is right around the corner – and if you’re anything like me, you’ll be after that glowy, plump look all season long.
Winter is generally a tough time for the skin. It’s dry, it’s dehydrated, and can sometimes be neglected during the dull, ever shortening days.
Winter, however, may also be the perfect time to treat yourself and splash out on a treatment you’ve been eyeing up these past few months but keep putting off for whatever reason.
It is Christmas, after all.
Here are three non and minimally invasive treatments that are super popular at the moment, and sure to leave you with a gorgeous glow – absolutely ideal for the festive season.
HydraFacial – The Kelly Clinic
Starting off strong with the icon that is the HydraFacial – a favourite of mine any time of the year, but especially in winter when your skin is generally a bit drier and in need of some love.
The HydraFacial is a non-invasive treatment that cleanses and exfoliates the skin, before extracting black heads and other congestion using a vacuum tool, which then pumps antioxidants and hyaluronic acid back into the skin for a full circle cleanse.
I got my most recent HydraFacial in The Kelly Clinic. With clinics in Galway and now Dublin, they offer a range of skin and aesthetic treatments totally tailored to your skin needs.
Dr Alex was more than helpful in determining what the best treatment would be for my skin concerns, and ensuring I would get the best results in the least amount of time. My HydraFacial was tailored for my skin (but is suitable for all skin types), and I could see results from the moment the treatment was over.
My skin was glowing. Quite literally glowing. It felt fresh, it looked bright, and the best part was that there was literally no downtime, so I could head out to meet pals with my new, radiant look.
HydraFacial results generally last between 4-7 days depending on your skin type, but it’s recommended that you get treated once a month to maintain that stunning glow.

Microneedling with Exosomes – Eavanna Breen Skin & Laser Clinic
You might have heard of microneedling, but have you heard of microneedling with exosomes?
The treatment involves stimulating the skin’s natural production of collagen and elastin with a microneedle and then, as the name suggests, using an exosomes serum to further enhance the treatment’s results.
So, how does it work? According to celebrity skin expert Eavanna Breen, exosomes act as “tiny chemical messengers” that communicate with your skin’s cells to encourage tissue regeneration.
“The micro-channels created by the needles allow the exosomes to penetrate deeper into the skin, enhancing the regenerative effects of the treatment,” she says.
“Exosome microneedling is more advanced and potent. It delivers a concentrated dose of regenerative molecules directly into the skin, which can lead to faster, more dramatic results and a quicker recovery period.”
Microneedling with exosomes is a minimally invasive procedure, meaning there’s only a little bit of downtime needed before you can get right back to your festive fun with your smoother, brighter, and tighter skin.
After a treatment, you may experience some redness and swelling (similar to sunburn), which generally disappears after 24-48 hours. You should also avoid using makeup, direct sunlight, or working out for at least a day after the procedure.

Polynucleotides – The Glow Clinic
And finally, the word on every skin enthusiast’s lips – polynucleotides, or as the treatment is otherwise known as, the salmon sperm facial.
Similar to microneedling, the treatment stimulates the skin’s regeneration process. Dissimilar to microneedling, it uses salmon or trout DNA, which is injected into the skin to encourage cell growth, skin texture, plumpness, and treat fine lines and wrinkles.
Dr Jennifer Owens from The Glow Clinic says that polynucleotides really are having a moment – especially seeing as so many patients are seeking treatments that focus on skin health.
“Polynucleotides are all about improving skin quality – patients notice smoother texture, more elasticity, and a healthier, more hydrated glow,” she says.
“They work on a cellular level to reduce inflammation and encourage tissue repair, which helps the skin look fresher and more resilient over time. They’re a lovely, natural-feeling option for anyone who wants healthy, glowing skin without going down the route of filler or toxins.”
Polynucleotides can be used on their own, or to compliment other treatments you might be getting for the festive season. Downtime is generally between 1 or 2 days, meaning that you’ll be out and about with your new glow in no time.
