With the rising cost of fuel and the ongoing political uncertainty around the world, you might think it’s not the best year to spend your summer abroad.

But don’t worry, you can always avoid cabin fever by planning a staycation.

They’re cheaper, possibly safer, and if you’re stuck for ideas we’ve made a list of spots around the country that you should check out!

If you’re looking for an authentic, scenic holiday where there’s something to do for everyone, then look no further than the picturesque town of Killarney in Kerry.

Whether you’re going on a solo trip, a couple’s retreat or a big family holiday, you’ll be kept busy throughout your stay.

Unique shops, delicious foods, and surrounded by some of the most breathtaking natural scenery this country has to offer, we cannot recommend this little town enough.

If your top priority is getting out on the water, then Achill Island is a great spot.

Perfect waves and a huge variety of watersport activities to get involved in such as surfing and kayaking, this little island is the perfect spot to make a splash in.

There’s also the quaint charm of the village itself, where you can finish a day on the waves by grabbing a pint in one of the cosy pubs nestled in the village.

Hidden Valley Resort

Another great idea for families, Hidden Valley in Wicklow, gives you a glamping experience absolutely jam-packed with fun activities.

Watersports, laser tag, mini golf, climbing walls, arts and crafts, even a drive-in cinema, you won’t run out of things to do at this resort.

Strandhill

If you manage to get a few days of good Irish sun this summer, then Strandhill is perfect if you just want to lie on the sand and chill.

While the coastal town in Sligo is known to be a pretty great surfing scene, the 11km stretch of sea and sand that it offers means you can enjoy it in a way that you want.

Sunbathe, swim or surf, it’s up to you. Strandhill also has some lovely camping/glamping areas that are definitely worth checking out.
