12 STELLAR Questions With Kasey Campion
From podcasting to dealing with hate to once wanting to be a guard
Irish content creator Kasey Campion has become one of the country’s most recognisable social media personalities thanks to her relatable humour, viral story times and candid approach to life online.
Having built a loyal community across Instagram and TikTok, Kasey has amassed over 40,000 followers on Instagram and more than 170,000 on TikTok, with her honest and entertaining content resonating with audiences across Ireland and beyond.
Alongside her hugely successful social media career, Kasey has also made a name for herself in broadcasting. Beginning her journey with FM104 through work experience during Transition Year, she now hosts Locked In while also fronting her own podcast, On the Kase, where she opens up about everything from relationships to the realities of life in the public eye as well as interviewing other Irish personalities such as Lauren Whelan and Love Island star Andrada Pop.
Known for her sharp wit, viral storytelling and unapologetically authentic personality, Kasey has quickly become one of Ireland’s most loved digital creators.
STELLAR sat down to chat with Kasey about her journey into media, life on air, dealing with online hate and the collaborations she has loved most throughout her career.
1. Did you know growing up that you wanted to work in media?
When I was in secondary school, I did not have a clue, I loved vlogging and posting to my Snapchat private story but I never would have thought it could be a career. I actually wanted to be a guard, only because my dad was a guard, but then he said he didn’t think it would be for me.
My mother is the Head of Department for Hair and Makeup at Virgin Media Ireland, so she has been in that industry for 20+ years, and she advised that I put down media courses because they are so broad, there is so much you can go into. And when I studied media, I realised that is what I wanted to do.
2. How did you get into radio?
My relationship with FM104 started when I did work experience there during transition year, I loved it. Then they were looking for promotion team members, and I applied to get my foot in the door. A few months later I heard back and then got the job, but I always wanted to do more and learn more.
I always looked up to and tried to learn from the presenters. A marketing job then came up, and I learned so much from that, but then eventually I said to my manager, I want to be on air, what do I have to do? He then put me on late at night so I could learn. I was presenting from midnight until 2am while still doing my 9-5 job as well as my social media content.

3. You also have a podcast, On the Kase. What would you say are the main differences between working on radio vs the podcast format?
The podcast is a lot longer, with radio you only have around four minutes an hour to talk, but with the podcast you can be a bit more informal and more yourself.
With radio you project a lot more as you’re presenting. I also spill a bit more about my personal life on my podcast.
4. How do you decide a new topic every week? What is the process of planning these weekly episodes?
Out of everything I do I would say that the podcast is what I stress about the most, as it is just me. For the first season I would cringe so much if I heard it back, I never knew what to say, I always took breaks and pauses.
But now I am very much going with the flow, and my producer Paul chimes in and we chat sometimes. It is great when we have guests because then the topic is about them. But most weeks, there is so much going on in my life I always have topics to speak about.
5. If you could interview with absolutely anyone in the world on your podcast, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
Lewis Capaldi, I don’t even need to think. I love him so much and I feel like we would be mates, and I have met him before once. I just love him I think it would be the best guest.

6. You’re very well known for your Storytimes, do you have a specific favourite story you have posted online?
I would have to say the cheating ex-boyfriend, it was a form of free therapy for me!
It also became one of the things I got most known for, and I know people say I’m only known because my boyfriend cheated, but no. It was the way I told the story, it was the hooks and the editing. I toot my own horn when it comes to that story.
7. Do you have any regrets about any of the Storytimes you have posted?
With Storytimes I have absolutely no regrets, but with responding to hate comments I regret that, just because I don’t need to prove myself to anybody, and these people have their minds made up about me already, so why would I sit there and try to defend myself?
These people do not serve my time and all they want is a reaction. Of course, it is great for views and people love watching it and it is funny, but that brings me a lot of anxiety, and it is just not worth it.
8. You have over 40,000 followers on Instagram and over 170,000 on TikTok, do you ever find yourself feeling any pressure about having so many eyes on you?
When you see a number on a screen you actually forget how many people that is. I only ever deep it when I am at a concert, let’s say with the 3Arena. Ten times that amount of people follow me, and it is insanity.
I’m not saying I’m Kim Kardashian, but I did not realise when starting to post on social media that your normal life is totally gone, if you get to the following I have. I would not trade it for the world, but it is scary and it can be overwhelming when I am out and about.
9. Which brand collabs are you most proud of?
I really liked working for the HSE anti-vaping campaign, because a lot of my followers are quite young. I hate vaping, every concert and night out I see them in everyone’s hands. I got to go to a school in Carlow and do a panel discussion and meet all these young people, and it really taught me how impressionable young people can be.
My goal this year was to work with Primark and White Fox Boutique, and I have now already worked for both. On Christmas 2023 I was given a White Fox tracksuit off ‘Santa’, and I was nearly crying. And now I’m being paid to promote their clothing! My dream would be to go on a White Fox brand trip, that would be unbelievable.
10. What are your favourite beauty and fashion brands?
I love Bershka and White Fox, and I am getting into the Vinted buzz recently.
I love shopping. But I only let myself buy new pieces if I sell a lot of my old clothes, so it feels like ‘replacing’. I love Oh Polly too, all those girly brands.
11. Social media trends can move so quickly – how do you stay creative and avoid burnout while constantly creating content?
People have often asked me this, but I honestly have the opposite issue. This week I had my grandmothers 90th, Olivia Dean, I now have Lewis Capaldi, Katy Perry, Calvin Harris, and I am worried about how I’m going to get all of this content up because if you don’t get it up on time it’s irrelevant.
I post around 10 to 15 times a day which is crazy, so sometimes I am like, maybe I won’t do this outfit check right now because I have 10 other videos in my drafts. It is just mental but I hope it stays that way.

When it comes to burnout, even on holidays I wish I could just say I put my phone away for 10 hours and sunbathe, but I am always editing, posting, looking for audios and planning what is next.
That is just me though, and I am just like that with everything I do. I try take breaks, but for me it is not something I have mastered yet.
12. What is your advice for people who want to get into content creation or radio?
My biggest tip would be to be consistent and be yourself. I know that is so basic, but you must be consistent. If someone is looking at me thinking ‘I could never do that’, I used to have zero followers and look up at big influencers thinking the same thing.
Everybody has to start on zero, and everybody has to start somewhere. I am just a normal person, from a normal family and went to a normal school. If I can do it, anyone can.
