5 Signs You’re Wearing The Wrong Size Bra – And How To Find The Right One

Boob bulge, back fat and overspill: if you suffer from any of the following then a new bra is definitely in order...

Bras. Anyone who’s flung there’s off at the end of the day will know that they can be pretty darn uncomfortable. But if you’re wearing the wrong size, they can be downright unbearable. #ouch. Having to constantly adjust the underwire under your clothes, or stop the plastic pieces from digging into your back; it’s a lot of work trying to make your boobs look perky.  Bottom line, bras that fit correctly improve your posture, flatter your body and boost your confidence. But if you notice any of the following, it’s probably time to seek out a better fit.

1. You have spillover

Overflowing means you are in the wrong size for sure, girlfriend. In particular, the band of your bra is probably too tight, causing a nasty boob bulge that’s visible through your clothes. If moving your bra on to a looser hook doesn’t help, then plan a bra shopping trip – and soon.

 2. Your straps keep falling down

This pesky problem is super common, and often overlooked, but if your straps are constantly finding their way off your shoulders, it’s a clear sign that you aren’t properly supported. First, tighten them a bit. They might have stretched out in the wash. If your straps are still slipping, try going down a band size.

 3. The centre of your bra is lifted off your chest

The middle piece between the cups (the gore) should sit flat on your rib cage. If there’s any space, your cup size is too small. You should be able to lift your arms over your head without the underwire rising up. There are plenty of guides online (Um, like our handy one here) to help you figure out how to measure yourself , but rest assured the sales assistant at your local lingerie shop will be more than happy to help you find that perfect fit. #fact

4. Your bra leaves marks on your body

Finding red marks on your back, chest or shoulders from your bra rubbing? If you are, then it’s likely you’re wearing a bra that’s at least one size too small. Identify where on your body the red marks are popping up, and then take a tap measure to ensure your band and cup size match your measurements.

5. You’ve got back cleavage

Despite the popular nickname, it’s not back fat — it’s literally just your bra being too tight and squeezing your skin. Your band is probably too small. To prevent this from happening, make sure you’re wearing the correct band size or if you have your bra on the tightest hook, bring it out to the last or middle one instead.

So now you know what size to shop for, are you ready to find the right one? We’ve found five to buy now.
