Here’s The Awkward Mistake That Has People Saying Demi Lovato Only ‘Quit’ Twitter As A PR Stunt
She abandoned social media for 24 hours before coming back - and she made one glaring error in the process.
It’s been a whirlwind couple of weeks for singer Demi Lovato – and her PR team, no doubt.
After announcing she had split from her boyfriend of six years, Wilmer Valderrama, earlier this month, the singer then took to Twitter on Monday to tell fans she was waving goodbye to social media entirely.
“Damn I gotta quit sayin sh*t. Bye Twitter. And insta,” she wrote, going on to blast people for “giving a f**k” what she said.
It’s thought her outburst was provoked by the beef she sparked with Mariah Carey’s fans during the week, after calling out the music legend for slating Ariana Grande and Jennifer Lopez.
While Demi seemed to imply that her decision was permanent, she was back online within a day:
So did the singer genuinely reconsider her choice to abandon social media, or was the whole thing a PR stunt from start to finish? It’s hard to know, but one element of the whole mess has us wondering.
Let’s take a look at the timestamp of her final tweet about quitting social media: 11.43pm (Irish time) on June 20th.
And now, here’s a look at her first tweet about her “return”. Again, 11.43pm, exactly 24 hours later on June 21st.
Coincidence – or two tweets that were scheduled for different days using a tool like Hootsuite or Tweetdeck?
Anyone who’s used an online tool to schedule tweets will know that it’s pretty easy to change the date of two tweets without having to change the time, which we’re guessing is what went down here.
Hmmm. Sounds like Demi has some explaining to do.
