Brad And Angelina’s Official Custody Agreement Is Just As Complicated As You’d Think
A judge signed off on the agreement this week.
Six weeks after news broke of their plans to divorce, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have set down official custody arrangements for their six children.
The couple, who have been separated since late September, presented a temporary custody agreement to a judge this week, which outlines how the next few months will pan out for Brad, Ange and their kids: Maddox, 15, Pax, 13, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 8.
According to court documents obtained by Entertainment Tonight, Angelina will retain physical custody of the children, with Brad granted “therapeutic visitation” sessions with them to try to work through various issues. Additionally, Brad will be undergo random drug and alcohol testing and weekly therapy sessions, while each child will undergo individual counselling.
It’s unclear whether the children will spend Christmas with their dad, and it’s thought each child will still have the choice to opt out even if it’s decided that Brad will be present over the festive season. “If a child says they don’t want to see Brad on Christmas, the psychiatrist isn’t going to force them,” a source tells ET. “That’s the whole purpose of this agreement.”
A team of five mental health therapists are working with the family to ensure everyone’s needs are met. The Jolie-Pitt’s shock divorce came just days after Brad was allegedly verbally abusive toward at least one of the children on a private jet, leading to police being called once the plane landed. The FBI have now closed their investigations into the incident, clearing Brad, 52, of the child abuse accusations against him, and determining no charges would be filed.
According to another source, Brad has not seen the kids since the incident, and Angelina has stopped work on her current film, First They Killed My Father, to be with her family as much as possible. “Angelina has not left the children’s side since the plane incident,” the source says. “She has been with them the whole time trying to make sure they heal.”
