Steven Spielberg And Stranger Things Star Begin Filming In Ireland
The two will be working on a new horror film in Wicklow.
Oscar-winning director Steven Spielberg has chosen Ireland as the backdrop for his new horror film, The Turning.
Details regarding the production have been surrounded by secrecy, but it has been said that the film will be partly filmed on Kilruddery Estate.
According to The Herald, all the crew involved in the production have had to sign non-disclosure agreements and nobody is permitted on set without clearance.
What’s even more exciting about the film is that it will star Stranger Things actor Finn Wolfhard. The 15-year-old plays Mike Wheelan in the hit Netflix series that took the world by storm in October when it’s second series was released.
The film, which is being directed by Floria Sigismondi, tells the story of a young woman, played by Mackenzie Davis, who has taken on the part of a nanny in charge of looking after two orphans who live in a spooky country mansion.
The film will be a modern take on the Henry James short novel, The Turn Of The Screw.
No stranger to the area, Spielberg has been reported by the Wicklow Voice newspaper to be staying nearby in the Druid’s Glen Hotel while he works on the project, but has kept a low profile while there.
Finn shared a snap on Instagram with acting coach Benjamin Perkins on set in Wicklow earlier this week.
Spielberg previously visited Ireland to meet Oscar-winner Daniel Day Lewis. The director also spent time in Wexford back in 1997 when filming a part of Saving Private Ryan on Curracloe Beach.
We are so excited for this film!
