H&M Are Finally Changing Their Sizing After Years Of Backlash From Customers
The clothing measurements will now be in line with UK standards.
There is nothing worse than trying on clothes in your size to find that they won’t go an inch past you knee. For H&M, the sizing of their clothing has come into question a couple of times, with their clothes fitting nothing like that size should.
Now H&M are changing their measurements to be in line with the UK sizing after complaints from customers who struggled to fit into their clothing.
A spokesperson for the brand said this week:
Following customer feedback, we are taking the steps to change our womenswear measurements to be in line with UK sizing. For example, the previous measurements and fit of a size 12 will now be the measurements of a size 10.
Last year, one woman went viral after penning an open letter about the sizes in H&M – she complained that jeans in a size 16 wouldn’t fit her size 14 body.
It read:
As I’m sure you’re aware, size 16 is the largest size you stock… Why are you making jeans that are unrealistically small? Should I just accept that accessible and affordable high street and on-trend fashion isn’t for people like me?
‘The newly sized clothes are already being shipped out to stores and will soon be extended to their online store, however, it won’t happen overnight’ the Swedish brand said. ‘This will be a gradual process and we cannot confirm when this will be 100 per cent complete.”
‘The new sizing is in effect already in our stores and shortly will be online, we aim to make this transition as smooth as possible for the customer,’ they added.
