Emmys 2018: Our 5 Most Memorable Moments
It's the most wonderful time of the year.
The 70th Annual Emmy Awards took place in LA last night, and as per usual with award season, there were lots of memorable moments from the night.
The first big moment of the night was Game of Thrones winning the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series.
Co-creator of the long-running show David Benioff thanked the “mad genius” of George R.R. Martin during his speech as Emilia Clarke, Peter Dinklage (who won for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series), Gwendoline Christie, Kit Harington, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, and others stood behind him.
The series beat out its worthy rivals The Americans(FX), The Crown (Netflix), The Handmaid’s Tale (Hulu), Stranger Things (Netflix), This Is Us (NBC), and its fellow HBO series Westworld.
Overall, the show took home an unreal nine Emmy awards this year, continuing its reign with more Emmys than any other scripted series.
It wouldn’t be an award ceremony without a proposal, would it? Director Glenn Weiss took home the Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special Emmy (mouthful) last night, but made his acceptance speech very special.
Weiss gave thanks to his mother, who sadly passed away two weeks ago, then surprised literally every single person in the crowd when he proposed to his girlfriend Jan Svendsen.
While accepting the award, he said, “You wonder why I don’t like to call you my girlfriend? Because I want to call you my wife.” My heart can’t take this.

She said yes, btw.
As for the best outfit of the night, we think the award goes to The Marvellous Mrs. Maisel’s Alex Borstein who re-wore her wedding dress from her marriage to her ex-husband.
The actress, who took home the Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series award at the Emmys on Monday night, revealed to Glamour magazine that the dress she wore to the event was actually her wedding gown from her marriage to her now ex-husband.
“This is from 20 years ago. The marriage didn’t last but the dress did and I wanted to give it new life so now it’s my Emmys dress. That’s the truth.”
Coming in as a close second for best outfit is, in our opinion, Tiffany Haddish. Tiffany isn’t a stranger to wearing gowns with a bit of meaning, and she pulled it out of the bag again last night in a gorgeous rainbow dress.
She absolutely glowed in the custom-made Prabal Gurung piece, telling E!’s Guiliana Rancic that the designer made it to resemble the Eritrean flag in honor of her father, who is from the country. We love.
Our last highlight of the night, but in no means the least, was Stranger Thing’s Joe Keery’s hair.
Look at it. Steve Harrington and his hair showed tf up.

I stand by my theory that the upside down is actually inside Steve's hair. #StrangerThings #Emmys pic.twitter.com/DetOxgwIgT
