The Spice Girls Have Ditched The ‘Girl Power’ Slogan And Think People Should Back Theresa May
"It's people power"
We agree that there’s a lot to take in from that headline, so let me break it down for you.
The Spice Girls were the definition of female empowerment back in the 90’s. Who could forget their iconic slogan ‘Girl Power’ which they preached to us naive kids way back when?
Now, however, speaking on ITV’s Lorraine, the gals have said that their slogan is no longer ‘Girl Power’, but ‘People Power’. Y’know because gender equality and all that.
“It’s people power, equality…everything. It’s all inclusive now,” said Emma Bunton. “We’re about equality and bringing everyone together.”
They brought us #GirlPower in the 90s but now @spicegirls say their message is all about people power, equality and inclusivity. ✌️

The girls also went on to give their political opinions, saying people should be standing with Theresa May.
About the controversial Prime Minister, Geri Horner, aka Ginger Spice, said:
“Britain, come together whatever it is, come together and sort our solutions out together, that’s the most important thing.
“We don’t have to agree on politics, it’s bigger than that. You can just support a woman doing the best she can and that’s it.”

If you’re left confused after watching those videos, you’ll be even more confused after you hear this.
In a 1996 interview with Spectator Magazine (when the gals were all aged 18-24), the Spice Girls were pretty vocal about their political views, including their opinion of Margaret Thatcher and the EU.
On Thatcher, the girls had these opinions:
“Thatcher had ideals all right,” said Geri, to a chorus of approval and chants of “We love Maggie!”
“Even if her policies were hard-hearted, socialism is bad – you work for your living and you deserve to keep what you’ve earned, Thatcher believed. But her legacy was a mixture: dealing with the unions good; destroying the GLC bad.” Bet those Theresa May comments don’t sound too surprising now, eh?
As for the EU, we can just call a spade a spade and say that Victoria Beckham single handedly caused Brexit.
“It’s been a terrible trick on the British people,” said Victoria. “The Euro-bureaucrats are destroying every bit of national identity and individuality. Let me give you an example – those new passports are revolting, an insult to our kingdom. We must keep our national individuality.”
We’re with you in saying this is the weirdest news story we’ve seen all week..and it’s Monday.
