Megan Fox Says She Can’t Share Her #MeToo Stories Because She’s ‘Not A Sympathetic Victim’
“I didn’t speak out for many reasons.”
Megan Fox is known to be one of the most beautiful women ever. Everyone was obsessed with her during the time she acted alongside Shia LaBeouf in Transformers and when she played a sexy man-eater in Jennifer’s Body. However, when Megan came out and spoke about the sexism she experienced while acting, her apparent ‘sexiness’ was her downfall, which is super disappointing.
It hasn’t been long since the #MeToo movement took Hollywood by storm, but Megan was one of few actresses who didn’t give her two cents on the issue. Now she’s revealed that she didn’t keep quiet about the movement because she didn’t have anything to add, but for another reason altogether.
In an interview with the New York Times, Megan said she didn’t talk about her #MeToo experiences due to fear of being victim shamed.
“I didn’t speak out for many reasons” she said. “I just didn’t think based on how I’d been received by people, and by feminists, that I would be a sympathetic victim. And I thought if ever there were a time where the world would agree that it’s appropriate to victim-shame someone, it would be when I come forward with my story.”
When talking about how she has been received by people, Megan is referring to the backlash she faced after speaking publicly about her experiences with Transformers director Michael Bay.
In an interview, Megan recalled how Michael Bay had her “audition” for her Transformers role by washing the director’s Ferrari while he filmed her. She also accused the director of being like “a dictator” and a “nightmare” on set, comparing him to Napoleon and Hitler.
After her complaints, the director offered the worst apology ever, saying: “I know that’s just Megan. Megan loves to get a response. And she does it in kind of the wrong way. I’m sorry, Megan. I’m sorry I made you work 12 hours. I’m sorry that I’m making you show up on time. Movies are not always warm and fuzzy.”
Then, three anonymous members of the Transformers crew wrote a disturbing open letter that Bay published on his official website. In it, the crew members called Fox “dumb as a rock,” “unprofessional,” “Ms. Sourpants,” a “grump,” “thankless,” “classless,” “graceless,” and an “unfriendly bitch.”
Megan finished the interesting Times interview by saying she hopes her three sons grow up to be respectful men. She said:
“If they see their father being respectful of me, it’s likely that that’s what they’ll think all men should do. It sounds simple. It’s probably not.”
