Cast And Details Have Been Revealed For Disney’s Live Action Little Mermaid
No, Halle Berry is not playing Ariel!
Yep, another Disney Live Action remake is on the way.
The Little Mermaid was a firm favourite among 90s girls so natually, we’re pretty excited to see what they do with the new one.
So far, we’ve gotten info on the cast, the production and the team behind it.
Most importantly, an Ariel has been chosen, and we are delighted.
Halle Bailey has been announced as the lead, which is perfect because she’s not only stunningly beautiful and a good actress, but she can also really sing.

She’s had small roles in things like The Last Holiday and Austin & Ally and played Sky in Grown-ish, a spin-off of Black-ish.
She’s also in a band with her sister Chloe, called ChloexHalle, and they’re brill.
Of course, with a name like Halle Bailey, many people who read the announcement too quickly read it as Halle Berry. Nope.
Halle is just 19, so it’s likely to be a breakout role for her.
Fans also rejoiced at the casting because of the lack of diversity often present in Disney films.
Halle posted a pic on her band’s page to celebrate the news.
“dream come true…” the 19-year-old wrote.
Also announced as part of the cast is Awkwafina, who will play Scuttle the seagull. Jacob Tremblay who played the little boy in Room will play Flounder, while Melissa McCarthy is reportedly in talks to play Ursula.
Some of the original songs will be included in the remake, but there’ll be new ones too. Original composer Alan Menken will also create new songs along with Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, who is producing the film alongside Rob Marshall, Marc Platt and John DeLuca.
Sadly we’ll be a while waiting for the film, because production doesn’t start until April 2020.
