Kim K Just Won A €2.5m Lawsuit Against Missguided For Ripping Off Her Outfits
The brand is also blocked from using Kim's trademarks which include her face and other assets.
Kim Kardashian West has won a lawsuit against Missguided USA for copying her outfits.
The reality star took the fashion brand to court for using her name and likeness to sell clothes, and because the company had been ‘notorious’ for ‘knocking off’ designer items she had worn.
Many of you will remember the gold dress Kim posted about in February, which she joked about fast fashion brands copying.
Going through old fitting pics & found this gold look that Kanye made for me for my Miami trip last summer (I went w the neon vibes instead) P.S. fast fashion brands, can you please wait until I wear this in real life before you knock it off? ? pic.twitter.com/MZiGLmC0yI

Missguided were quick to react by creating an almost identical dress and putting it on their site.
“The devil works hard but Missguided works harder. You’ve only got a few days before it drops online,” they responded at the time.
The court reportedly pointed out that the website had entire pages dedicated to selling looks inspired by Kim. This included using photos of Kim which can mislead consumers into thinking she’s associated with the brand.
The brand did not defend itself and was told to pay out $2.7m (roughly €2.5m) plus $60k in attorneys’ fees.
Missguided is also permanently blocked from using Kim’s trademarks which include her face and other assets.
Kim previously spoke how it felt to have items she wore copied immediately by online fast fashion stores.
“It’s devastating to see these fashion companies rip off designs that have taken the blood, sweat and tears of true designers who have put their all into their own original ideas,” she said in a series of Tweets back in February.
She added: “I’ve watched these companies profit off my husband’s work for years and now that it’s also affecting designers who have been so generous to give me access to their beautiful works, I can no longer sit silent. Only two days ago, I was privileged enough to wear a one-of-a-kind vintage Mugler dress and in less than 24 hours it was knocked off and thrown up on a site – but it’s not for sale. You have to sign up for a waitlist because the dress hasn’t even been made to sell yet.”
