Alexa Chung Is Being Praised For Revealing She Has Endometriosis
"Sorry if you have it too it sucks."
Alexa Chung is the queen of cool clothing and many fans follow her on Instagram for fashion inspo.
The designer got personal on her usually stylish feed as she opened up about having endometriosis.
She shared a snap in what seemed to be a hospital and captioned it: “I don’t want to belong to any club that would accept me as a member, but here I am.”
She added hashtags which provided more context, including #endometriosisclub #lifelongmembership and #sorryifyouhaveittooitsucks.
Endometriosis is a painful disorder in which tissue that normally lines the inside of your uterus grows outside your uterus. Endometriosis most commonly involves your ovaries, fallopian tubes and the tissue lining your pelvis and sometimes beyond pelvic organs.
It can also mean that periods are incredibly painful and fertility issues can arise.
Fans and followers of Alexa took to the comments to praise her for sharing the post and to send her words of encouragement.
“Welcome to the club, you are by far our most stylish member,” said Bridget Hustwaite of Endogram.
Another follower said: “Stay strong and positive! We, all the members of this club, are with you”
Another added: “Welcome to the Warrior club – we don’t wanna be there either but there’s a whole lot of inspiration and strength x”
One follower said: “I wish I could say welcome to the club, but it’s worth saying that the awareness you bring is more helpful than you know. Wishing you all the best. Support from other Endo Warriors helps”
Many other women shared their own personal stories in the comments, showing that solidarity and support can be hugely helpful.
