Best-Selling Book This Is Going To Hurt Is Set To Be Turned Into A TV Show
The secret diaries of a junior doctor is hugely popular and has won countless awards.
It’s the book everyone’s been talking about since its release in 2017, and now it’s about to get even more popular with a TV show on the way.
This is Going to Hurt: Secret Diaries of a Junior Doctor by Adam Kay documents his 97-hour weeks, life and death decisions, a constant tsunami of bodily fluids, and how the hospital parking meter earns more than he does.
The book was scribbled in secret after endless days, sleepless nights and missed weekends and presents a no-holds-barred account of his time on the NHS front line. It’s both hilarious and heartbreaking and really gives us an insight into the world of medicine.
It’s won countless awards and gained huge praise from people all over the world, so it makes sense that it’s set to be turned into a TV show by BBC.
The eight-part comedy-drama will be adapted by Kay himself, who says: “Junior doctors tend to have a rather quiet voice compared to the politicians, which is understandable – you don’t have much spare time if you’re working 100 hour weeks. It’s been a huge privilege to have my diaries reach so many readers and it’s been absolutely humbling to see their reaction. I’m beyond delighted to now be able to share my story with a far wider audience and make the viewers of BBC Two laugh, cry and vomit.”
The show is currently in development, but there is no release date as of yet. We’ll keep you posted!
