Prince Harry Is Suing The Daily Mail Over Their ‘Ruthless’ Treatment Of His Wife Meghan Markle
Harry compared the treatment of his wife to that of his late mother in a heartfelt statement
Prince Harry released a statement last night, telling of his plans to sue the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday for infringement of copyright and breach of the 2018 Data Protection Act.
In the official statement, the Duke of Sussex spoke about the ‘ruthless campaign’ the publication has issued against his wife, Meghan. The couple’s decision to now sue the company comes as they sought out and published a private letter Meghan wrote to her father, Thomas.
Defending and supporting his wife in true Harry fashion, the statement read:
“Unfortunately, my wife has become one of the latest victims of a British tabloid press that wages campaigns against individuals with no thought to the consequences – a ruthless campaign that has escalated over the past year, throughout her pregnancy and while raising our newborn son,”
Harry also went on to say that both he and Meghan have put on a brave face in recent times, however, their facade has become increasingly difficult to maintain as the press continued to ‘bully’ the couple.
“Though we have continued to put on a brave face – as so many of you can relate to – I cannot begin to describe how painful it has been.”
Describing his ‘deepest fear’, Harry likened the unjust treatment of his wife to that of his late mother’s, Diana. Stating that he does not want history to repeat itself.
“I’ve seen what happens when someone I love is commoditised to the point that they are no longer treated or seen as a real person. I lost my mother and now I watch my wife falling victim to the same powerful forces.
In response to the statement, a Mail on Sunday spokesperson said: “The Mail on Sunday stands by the story it published and will be defending this case vigorously.”
