Actress Jane Fonda Has Been Arrested At A Climate Change Protest In Washington DC

Legendary actress Jane Fonda has been arrested in Washington DC, as she took part in a Climate Change protest.

The 81-year-old movie star joined thousands of fellow protesters who took to Capitol Hill to make their voices heard on the important issue, and was among a group of 16 detained by police for ‘unlawfully protesting,”

Before her arrest, the 9-5 star explained her decision to join the protest, revealing she wanted to be a part of the movement that ‘demands attention.”

The double Academy Award winner, who was handcuffed and escorted to a police car for  “crowding, obstructing or incommoding”, said she was “inspired and emboldened by the incredible movement our youth have created”, describing climate change as a “collective crisis that demands collective action now”.

“(They) have really risked a lot and given up a lot in order to say: ‘Wake up old people. How come you’re not standing with us? You’ve taken our future away’, She told ABC News.

“So, you know, grandma’s joining.”

Fonda was released just hours later.
