5 City Breaks To Tick Off Your Travel List In 2020
Get ready to pack your bags.
Feel like you’ll need a pick me up once you get over the January blues? Or just want to tick more city breaks off your list in 2020? Well, here’s some of the top places to check out.
Cork City
A fabulous city that has plenty of things to enjoy, without the rigmarole of flying. Excellent. A trip to Cork can’t be without a visit to the cityโs famous English Market, where youโll find all sorts of local bits and bob. Even if youโre not shopping, the Victorian building is a sight for sore eyes. If you’re blessed with fine weather, take a spin out to Blackrock Castle Observatory. The views are stunning, plus, entry includes both a tour of the castle itself and access to its astronomy exhibition.
If the weather is more so on the miserable side, Mardyke Entertainment Complex is your go-to. Packed with everything from a bowling alley and a pool hall, to ping pong tables and a karaoke bar.
Cork is basically a food lover’s dream, too. Check out Ali’s Kitchen for brunch classics, Elbow Lane Smokehouse for steak and Franciscan Well Brewery or Arthur Mayneโs for some dranks.
Glasgow
Only a stone’s throw away, Glasgow is perfect for you if you’re looking for something a little funky. Plus,ย Glasgow it has the best shopping in the UK (outside of London), with shopping destinations sprinkled all over the city. Brewdog, the Glasgow outpost of the popular Scottish brewing company, is just one place that you’re sure to have plenty of craic. From drinks and pizza to Scrabble and table tennis.

Amsterdam
If you haven’t yet been to The Dam, make 2020 your year to go. It’s a city that’s full of culture, as well as what it’s most wildly known for. If you’re brave enough to sight see like a local, your best bet is to rent a bike. Although cycling is the most popular form of transport over there, you’d want to be pretty confident at it.
Be sure to visit Anne Frank’s House, enjoy the canal cruise, and Sticky Fingers for delish cakes, and an Insta’ worthy pic. Of course.
Brussels
Brussels is a fab city to explore, with more to offer than you’d imagine. The Grand Place is one of the most stunning buildings, while the costume museum, Lace, is like a haven for historic clothing. The beer tour of Brussels is one thing that can’t be missed out on, as Brussels has a full history of beer to be indulged.
As well as museums and beer tours, Cafe Belga is another must visit. The cafe is popular among both tourists and locals alike, with fab views, a great atmosphere and of course, delish food.
Prague
Prague itself is almost like a little fairytale, with as much cheap wine as you wish for. For stunning views, make sure to visit the Charles Bridge during the day. Then, return at night to see it basically transformed with musical performances, an amazing atmosphere and a gorgeous view of Prague Castle shining brightly.
Another must-see is the Old Town Square. Day or night, no matter what time of year it is, the Old Town Square will be packed. But it’s so worth a visit, with incredible architecture, restaurants at every turn and the incredible atmosphere. Plus, this is where you’ll see the Astronomical Clock inThe Old Town Hall Tower.
