You know those moments when you literally need to zone out a bit, watch something that’s oh so comforting and brings a smile to your face? That’s exactly what Mamma Mia! is ideal for. Both of the films in the franchise were a massive hit (personally, I don’t think the first one can be beaten) and now, it sounds like we might even get a third. *insert shocked face emoji here*

Honestly, it would have been exactly what we needed to give us a little extra happiness during a pandemic, but it’s always better late than never.

Judy Craymer, the producer behind the Mamma Mia! franchise, told the Daily Mail recently, “I think one day there will be another film because there’s meant to be a trilogy, you see.”

Judy then revealed that she had even been working on the third film before the coronavirus pandemic hit, “I was meant to have been getting on with that, in my head, during these months. But then I got hit with COVID fog.”

“‘I know Universal would like me to do it,” she continued, saying she wanted to use the four new Abba numbers that Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus had written for the virtual concert.

Once Mamma Mia! returns to the West End, Judy also revealed that they will be inviting ‘NHS and frontline workers to see the show when we get the West End back’.

Well, let’s keep our fingers crossed that Meryl Streep, Cher and the rest of our faves will be on board if the third film is given the go ahead!
