If you’re following any of the Kardashian/Jenners on social media, chances are you’ll recognise this powdered sponge cake that’s been taking our feeds during quarantine.

An olive oil flavoured cake doesn’t sound appealing at first, but celebrities all over LA are raving about the dessert so much that it’s making us really want to try it , and also have you seen how pretty It is?!

Celebs such as Kourtney Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, Shay Mitchel and Addison Rae, to name but a few, have posted the aesthetically pleasing cake all over their Insta stories making it a viral sensation.

The “bomb ass olive oil cake” is made by Little House Confections, costs a whopping $42 and comes in an Instagram worthy brown cardboard box tied up with twine, all very pleasing, all very hipster.

Unfortunately for anyone who’s dying to drop a pretty penny on the cake, it is exclusive to LA. However, although the exact recipe has not been revealed, the company’s website divulges the ingredients which are : flour, extra virgin olive oil, fresh-squeezed oranges, orange zest, minimal sugar and eggs. Using these ingredients, the North American Olive Oil Association (yes, that’s a real thing), has come up with their own version of the recipe that you can try at home.

So, are you ready to get cooking?

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons of orange juice (fresh squeezed if you can manage it)
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • Confectioners’ sugar for dusting
