Celeb Sightings: There’s A New Rom-Com Being Filmed In County Kildare

There’s nothing we love more than seeing an A-lister in Ireland, from Matt Damon with his now iconic Super Valu bag or Kit Harrington cycling around Christchurch, we live for a celeb sighting on our very own shores.

It seems that is looking very possible with a new rom-com being filmed in Celbridge, Co. Kildare. This new movie called Mr Malcom’s List is being shot at Castletown House which dates back to 1722.

The building makes for a stunning backdrop to the film which is set to be a Regency era romantic comedy. Based on the novel by Suzanne Allain, of the same name, the story follows the handsome and wealthy Mr Malcom as he is on the lookout for a wife, armed with a list of all the ideal qualities she should have.

After a few years of fruitless searching, Selina Dalton arrives in town. However, she seems to suspiciously tick every box on his list, and we soon realise it’s a revenge plot set up against Mr Malcolm, but their immediate attraction makes it hard for them to ignore their differences.

Anyone else getting Bridgerton vibes already? Us too.

The film, which has begun filming already, has a whole host of A-list cast members. The gorgeous Theo James is set to play Henry, best known for his role in the Divergent film series. Freida Pinto is playing Selina Dalton, she has previously starred in The Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Slumdog Millionaire.

Sope Dirisu will be playing the titular role of Mr Malcolm, and you may recognise him from 2020’s hit show, Gangs of London. Actress, Zawe Ashton, who we loved in Channel 4’s show Fresh Meat, and Ashley Park from Emily in Paris will also be starring in the flick.

The director of the film, Emma Holly-Jones had been sharing some behind the scenes snaps of the filming and there have also been some TikTok videos from locals in the area shared online.
